Light Soy Sauce or Soy Sauce :1 tablespoon
Dark Soy Sauce:Optional, for coloring purposes,a small amount
Cooking Wine:1 tablespoon
Garlic, minced :appropriate amount
Ginger Slices:a few slices
Cooking Oil:appropriate amount
Cornstarch:a few slices(Optional, to lock in moisture during marinating)
Steps:
Prepare Chicken Breast: Wash the chicken breast, remove the sinews and fat on the surface, and cut into evenly sized chunks or slices.
Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken breast into a bowl, add appropriate amounts of black pepper powder, salt, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce (if using), cooking wine, minced garlic, and ginger slices. Mix well and let marinate for 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the chicken. For a tender and juicy texture, you can also add a pinch of cornstarch and mix thoroughly.
Pan-fry or bake:
Pan-fry: Heat a pan over medium-high heat with enough cooking oil to coat the bottom. Once hot, add the marinated chicken breast pieces, spacing them apart to avoid overcrowding. Fry until both sides are golden brown and cooked through, flipping occasionally.
Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the marinated chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly crispy on the outside. Flip halfway through baking for even cooking.
Serve: Remove the black pepper chicken breast from the pan or oven and arrange on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro, if desired, for added color and flavor.
Enjoy: Serve with rice, vegetables, or salad to enjoy your delicious homemade black pepper chicken breast!
